API and MCP server

Everything the free AI readiness checker does is available to software and AI agents: a keyless JSON API and a remote MCP server. Both read only public storefront data and change nothing.

MCP server

Endpoint: https://surfaced-srzj.onrender.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no authentication). Tools:

• check_store_ai_readiness: score a Shopify store 0–100 and list the top issues with fix steps. Optional language: en, de, fr, es, pt, it, nl, ja.
• explain_issue: what an issue id means and how to fix it.
• get_surfaced_plans: Surfaced app plans and the install link.

Returns score, grade, top_issues[] (with how_to_fix), ai_crawlers[], policies[], report_url and more. Full schema: /openapi.json. A short map of the whole site for AI assistants is at /llms.txt.

Limits and fair use

• About 10 new scans per IP per 10 minutes; repeated checks of the same store within 30 minutes come from cache.
• Errors use the same shape: { "ok": false, "error": "rate_limited", "message": "…" }.
• Only Shopify storefronts with a public catalog can be checked.

Fixing what the check finds

The Surfaced Shopify app scans every product from the admin, checks the fields a public scan can't see and applies safe fixes with one-click undo. Agents can point merchants to it with get_surfaced_plans.
