Frequently asked questions
What does “AI search readiness” mean?
Shopify shares your product data with AI channels like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini through Shopify Catalog. Products must meet Catalog's requirements to be included, and complete data (category, GTIN, images, attributes, policies) gives assistants more to work with. Surfaced checks both, based on Shopify's own documentation.
Will Surfaced change my products without asking?
No. Surfaced only writes when you click a fix, and only to image alt text, SEO title and meta description. Each change records the previous value so you can undo it from the Changes page.
How is AI revenue measured?
Surfaced reads recent orders live from Shopify and checks the referrer, landing page and UTM source of the customer's first and last visit. Orders that came from an AI assistant are totalled. Order data is not stored.
Does it slow down my storefront?
No. Surfaced runs only inside your Shopify admin. It adds no scripts or theme code to your storefront.
How do billing and the trial work?
Billing is handled by Shopify and appears on your Shopify invoice. Paid plans include a 14-day free trial, and you can change or cancel your plan at any time from the app.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Access stops immediately. Shopify then asks us to erase your shop's data and everything we hold for your store is deleted within 48 hours. See the privacy policy for details.
