Askbase: Q&A for Confluence
Askbase adds a questions-and-answers space to Confluence Cloud. People ask questions, answer them, vote, and accept the best answer, and Askbase suggests existing Confluence pages that may already answer the question. It runs on Atlassian: all data stays in Atlassian's Forge storage.
Getting started
- A Confluence admin installs Askbase from the Atlassian Marketplace.
- Open it from Apps → Askbase Q&A in the Confluence top navigation (all spaces), or from a space sidebar: Apps → Q&A (questions for that space).
- Click Ask a question, add a title, optional details and up to 5 tags, then post.
Answering, voting and accepting
- Open a question to read answers and post your own.
- Vote questions and answers up or down. You can't vote on your own posts.
- The person who asked can Accept one answer. It's pinned to the top and the question shows as Answered.
- Authors can delete their own questions and answers.
Finding questions
- Search by words in the title or details.
- Tick Unanswered only to see what still needs help.
- Click a tag to filter by it. In a space, tick All spaces to see everything.
Related pages
When you type a question title, Askbase searches your Confluence pages for matching keywords and suggests the most relevant ones. The search runs as you, so it only shows pages you can already see, and nothing is stored.
Recent questions macro
On any page, insert the Recent questions (Askbase) macro to show the latest questions from that space and whether they're answered.
Pricing and licensing
Askbase is free for up to 10 users and billed per user through Atlassian above that. If a subscription lapses, existing questions and answers stay readable; posting new ones is paused until it's renewed.
Privacy and security
Askbase stores questions, answers, tags, votes and Atlassian account IDs in Atlassian's Forge storage only. No data leaves Atlassian. See the privacy policy and terms.
